THE BEAUTY EDIT : Go-to Glam ♡

Writer's picture: Jemini DaveJemini Dave

Hi lovelies, today's post is a run through of my current go-to glam I tend to wear pretty much whenever I do wear makeup in the winter season. At this time of the year I tend to stick to a simple warm eye with either a brown or red lip, which you'll find out more about later in this post. So on to the look:

Skin Prep:

Especially in the colder months, the key to making your makeup sit nicely on your skin is simply using a moisturiser that works for you. Everyone has different skin so it's important to know your skin type in order to choose the right moisturiser to suit your skin. My skin tends to be normal but towards the end of the day can tend to get quite oily, so my moisturisers tend to be quite lightweight, but still keeps my skin healthy.

M O I S T U R I S E R - Nivea Soft Lotion

P R I M E R - No7 Airbrush Away Pore Minimising Primer

To finish off the skin prep, as well as making sure my skin was moisturised, I used my good ol' Carmex on my lips to ensure they were moisturised in time for when I apply any lip products - especially if using the Kylie lip kits which tend to dry my lips out.

Makeup Details:

So on to the makeup - As always, I start my makeup with the eyes. This is just so if the eyeshadows have a bit of fallout, rather than having to redo the base, it's much easier to start with the eyeshadow, clean away the fallout, and then work on the base.

E Y E S H A D O W - Morphe 35OM Palette / NYX - Ultimate Shadow Palette (Warm Neutrals)

For the crease, taking the Morphe 35O2 palette, a mix of the shades 'Contour', 'Tan' and 'Spice' was taken on a fluffy brush and worked into the crease as the transition between the main eyelid and brow bone. Then the dark shades 'Muddy' and 'Whiz' were applied on the lid of my eyes before using the same fluffy brush previously used to blend these colours into the crease. The dark grey/brown shade from the NYX Ultimate Shadow palette was applied on the same area to intensify the darkness of the eyes. The colour 'Spice' from the Morphe palette was lightly smoked out under the lower lash line before applying the mascara.

M A S C A R A - No7 Lash Impact Mascara

E Y E B R O W S - NYX - Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade (Espresso)

M A S C A R A - No7 Lash Impact Mascara

L A S H E S - Ardell Demi Wispies. (These lashes are full, fluttery and give a natural finish which is what I tend to look for in every day lashes, not to forget they are super affordable!)

F O U N D A T I O N - MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation (N7) / NYX Total Control Drop Foundation (Golden)

C O N C E A L E R - Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer (Nude) - also used for the base for the eyeshadows.

C R E A M H I G H L I G H T / C O N T O U R - NYX Cream Highlight & Contour Palette (Medium) / No7 Instant Radiance Bronzing Highlighter

P O W D E R S - To set the highlighted areas of the face, I used my NYX Studio Finishing Powder to dust lightly with a fluffy powder brush, concentrating on the oily, t-zone area to minimise shine on my face throughout the day. For setting the areas I applied the cream contour, I used a similar ashy brown shade from the Morphe 35OM palette with a stippling brush. Yes that's right - I used an eyeshadow for contour, but believe me, it actually works! The last powder product was the most important - HIGHLIGHT. For this, I used the

Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette (Golden Sugar 2), and took a mix of the two golden shades on a fan brush and applied this on the high points of my face. This included the high points of my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, my brow bone, and my cupid's bow.

L I P S - Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in 'Brown Sugar' mixed with MAC Satin Lipstick (Paramount). Like I said at the beginning of this post, I tend to stick with the same look, but usually switch between brown and red lips. For my red lips option, I usually use NYX Retractable Lip Liner in Ruby paired with L'Oreal x Balmain lipstick in 'Domination'.

That brings us to the end of my go-to makeup routine - hope you enjoyed this post, I've recently had questions about my makeup so any questions asked have been answered! Stay tuned for more makeup posts, and have a lovely weekend x
